The description says this LED head lamp is 300 lumens. I must have gotten a seriously defective unit, because this thing can't break the 100 lumen mark, no matter where the lens is focused, or even removed. Even tried another set of new batteries, nope. I'd estimate this more around 50 lumens, and that's being generous. There are keychain LEDs that run off of watch batteries, that will give this a run for its money.Description also says waterproof. Which may be true, if one were to put this into a ziplock bag first. Forget about water proof, your laptop is probably more water proof than this thing. Not trying to be harsh, but there is no way this product could match what the seller lists. If I had more time, I'd get a refund, but there are more important things in life, than getting back my 20-something dollars for this junk. Funny that it's down to 8 something dollars, just a few days later. Out go the batteries, and into the recycling bin this lamp... Maybe not top-of-the-line but for the price there's no complaining here. The construction seems solid, well-built and thought went into the design. The 5-watt chip is amazingly bright! I live in the country and even in those moonless nights I can see clearly 100 yards away. The slide zoom works well (and hopefully will not loosen up over time). The wide beam is clean and bright and when you zoom out it comes to a square of intense power. The lense appears to be real glass. The head-strap is not the best but it works okay. Some name brands have thicker fabric that is a bit stronger. The three way switch is nice because full bright is not always needed. It has a low and strope setting too. The three AAA batteries last okay but not nearly as long as lights that take AA batteries. Comes in a foam-lined box which you can use for storage. The on-off switch is easy to press and the battery cover is a two button system that is easy to remove. A couple other lights I have require a tool to... Personnaly use this hedlamp for hunting and camping.Light will reach out to about 80 yds.(240ft +/-) on the narrow beam. What I like the most is that the light pretty much reaches out the same distance on the low setting as it does on the high setting. It's zoomable from a narrow beam(for distance) and a flood(wide area) which is great for find things in a dark attic, or around the campsite at night. |
