5.0 out of 5 stars beyond expectations, June 20, 2011
This review is from: 300 Lumen Forehead Bonfire, 3-Mode UltraBright Cree LED Headlamp, AAA batteries
It's great that the LED technology is continuing to move forward, these new lights they're making are just phenomenal. This is my second LED headlamp and it really is a substantial jump in brightness from the previous generation of these things. It uses the same batteries as the generic one I bought in China about 3 years ago, 3 triple-As, but instead of 12 small LED bulbs it has a single bigger Cree bulb (or chip I guess they should be called) in there, and the single Cree is at least twice as bright as the 12 old style LEDs. Probably more than twice as bright I suppose, but I don't know how many lumens my old headlamp is. All I can say is the 300 lumens this one cranks out is pretty darn bright.

A nice feature it has over my old lamp also is the focusing lens, pull out to focus the beam and push in to widen it. And when it's focused in a beam you see the shape of the cree chip, kind of a square keystone shaped thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Light, December 4, 2011

Just received this lamp - OUTSTANDING. Fantastic coverage on flood and excellent spot light. Completely met my expectations. Good quality - easily fits my head (above average size) not ego size. The red ring around the hood is not a bother. Zoom is also easy and gives full range from flood to spot. I would also like to mention the use of triple "A" batteries; keeps the unit small and compact, although the battery compartment is a little difficult, and I am not particulary fond of the strobe feature either. That being said howeveer, these little quirks are not significant to overide all the plus features of this lamp. Five stars on this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars what a great handlamp, May 25, 2011
This review is from: 300 Lumen Forehead Bonfire, 3-Mode UltraBright Cree LED Headlamp, AAA batteries
I used this for a midnight hike recently, and was amazed! I tested it against my other headlamps (Black Diamond and a Streamlight), and it put them to shame. There really is no comparison. I could spotlight across large meadows and could even shine onto an adjacent canyon. As a backpacker, I'll never use my other headlamps again. I've never been able to navigate a trail at night so easily. Plenty comfortable. Telling all my friends...
