5.0 out of 5 stars PIXA 3-handy light, October 6, 2011

I purchased the PIXA 3 in hopes of simplifying my headlamp use camping.I have a Petzl Zipka which I've used for many years as a general purpose light around camp.I have an older, bulkier headlamp with the battery pack on the back strap-this has worked well when I needed more light. But it was heavy. My new PIXA 3 is comfy to wear, with a die-cast indestructible feel to it.The light swivels and can be aimed just where it's needed.Combined with the 3 mode lighting choices, this light can be set to accomplish any task.A little pricey-but quality pays for itself in the long run.Especially out in the wilderness when you really need your stuff to just work. This is a great all-purpose light.A very happy no regret kind of purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, but a little heavy, May 22, 2011

Boy LED headlights have come a long way since my Tikka that I have been using for years. This model has three modes; flood, spotlight, and mix of both (at what appears to be 50% power for both lights.) It comes with the standard strap and a mount that clips directly (and securely) into my Petzl Vertx Vent helmet. Slick. It is a bit heavier than I am used to, but seems solid and it throws some serious light. Another nice feature -- the light itself rotates all the way around for storage, ultimately pointing the lights back at the helmet for protection and making it impossible to turn on by accident. The selector switch itself is easy to use while wearing gloves. I'm very happy with Petzl equipment in general and this seems to be a great purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best headlamp for professional/industrial workplace, March 13, 2011
This review is from: Petzl E78CHB PIXA 3 Headlamp (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is my second headlamp I have ever owned. First I owned some energizer 7 led lamp, which had horrible spotted lighting, and the strap was lose even when it was fully tightened. the light was not very bright, and I don't think it was IP rated or very robust.
I work in a industrial environment building electrical panels for automated machinery. This is perfect. It has close range, close/far, and far lighting modes which are very nice. the light is perfectly distributed and is very bright. The selector knob is large and easy to use. It has a lot of up down positioning, and the strap is very robust. This lamp is IP rated to be under water and to be treated roughly. The price is not too bad, plus the LEDS are of pretty new technology as far as i know, and the headlamp uses some sort of smart power system that allows the light to run at full brightness for 24-48 hours and then drop off slowly instead of dropping off right from the beginning. I honestly give this 5 stars and would... Read more
